Position Duties/Responsibilities
The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing and teaching all levels of mathematics courses, including graduate-level courses
- Engaging in scholarly activity and being of service to the department, university, and broader community
- Developing and refining the freshman math curriculum, ensuring alignment with academic standards, department goals, and institutional mission.
- Providing guidance and support to faculty teaching freshman math courses, including mentoring, professional development opportunities, and resources.
- Analyzing assessment data to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based strategies to enhance student success.
- Collaborating with departmental leadership to develop initiatives that support the goals of the freshman mathematics courses.
Required/Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Mathematical Sciences, or a closely related field; or ABD in Mathematical Sciences, or a closely related field, and currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program.
- Excellent teaching, strong communications skills, and demonstrated research ability.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in mathematics education, including active learning strategies and educational technology.
