Salary Range: $56,000 - $62,000/annually
Position Description:
Under the strategic direction set by Keystone leadership and in collaboration with key agency staff, the Assistant Director of Development will create and implement development strategies that enhance relationships with our donors, increases overall support from individual donors, and expands the donor base to support the programmatic needs at Keystone.
This position oversees the development, management, and implementation of an individual donor stewardship plan including working with our Board of Directors and a team of volunteers who support donor engagement.
These efforts will include managing our direct mail and e-campaigns, cultivating donors, leading organizational fundraising events, and assisting with donor data and tracking.
Essential Functions:
40% - Development Management for Annual Fund Growth
- Nurtures a culture of philanthropy, reflecting Keystone’s core values in all interactions with donors, volunteers, and supporters while complying with the highest standards for ethical fundraising.
- Write effective and tailored development appeals.
- Manage the implementation of direct mail campaigns, list management for appeals and communications, and work effectively with vendors.
- Increase donor revenue from individual donors, notably mid-level and monthly donors.
- Identify and cultivate new donors via events and other community engagement activities.
- Assists with annual overall fundraising goals via engagement with corporations, foundations, and faith communities who support Keystone.
- Represents Keystone externally when appropriate, promoting the mission, values and agency programs in the community.
- Assist with setting up 1:1 donor meetings with President, board members and Development Director, and provide updates and outreach to donors.
30% - Stewardship & Donor Communications
- Implement a well-rounded stewardship plan to increase donor retention which also includes supporting the development committee and Keystone board of directors who support donor stewardship.
- In coordination with supervisor and colleagues, develop and implement donor communication strategies including calendar/campaign timelines.
- Creates donor-centered communications including quarterly donor newsletter, e-campaigns, and social media to support the organization’s fundraising goals.
- In collaboration with colleagues and program staff, collect program stories that highlight the impact of support to Keystone for use in donor and general communications.
- Coordinates/communicates plans and activities with colleagues and other Keystone staff, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
15% - Fundraising Special Events
- In collaboration with colleagues, project manage for annual fundraising events, notably our annual gala, but also other events that bring in resources for Keystone.
- Serves as liaison with event management personnel, vendors, corporate sponsors, and potential donors.
- Provide assistance as needed with research for resources, services, or details needed for successful event execution.
- Support colleagues for administrative duties related to fundraising events, including communications strategies around the event.
10% Data Management & Reporting
- Maintains accurate and complete records of all communications with donors.
- Tracks, monitors, and reports annual fund performance against budget.
- Partners with colleagues for accurate and timely gift entry and receipting for donors.
- Provides accurate, timely information regarding current fundraising progress to the agency leadership.
5% Other
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned, for the purpose of accomplishing agency objectives.
Qualification Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-Profit Management, or related field.
- Two years of Non-Profit development and fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated experience and success in developing positive, long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, or supporters and ability to deliver donor-centered solutions.
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-starter with enthusiasm, creativity, and interest in expanding and improving a growing development program at Keystone.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, and have a strong ability to multi-task, and prioritize work in a face-paced setting. Follows through on commitments.
- Adaptability and emotional maturity to be flexible and adapt to change while maintaining warmth, a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Interest in Keystone’s mission and passion for leveraging mission impact by engaging donors to provide more support for more people in our community.
- Commitment to racial equity and ability to relate to and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Qualification Preferences
- Three to Five years of non-profit development and fundraising.
- Experience using donor management software.
Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical working conditions are normal for a welcoming environment. Position requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, close vision, ability to adjust focus and see color. Must have transportation or ability to get to other Keystone sites or community locations.
