NSTXL delivers technology to the Warfighter by serving as a one-stop shop to match government requirements with innovative private-sector and academic solutions.
Each of our OTAs is a distinct member-based not-for-profit with its own membership that is managed and serviced by NSTXL. Currently, our OTAs have more than 900 corporate, non-profit, educational, and financial institution members. For these members, NSTXL offers opportunities to bid on government contracts, education and training, and live/virtual forums on a wide variety of topics.
Job Description
The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL), a fast-growing innovative acquisition services company, is seeking an Assistant Controller to assist in supervision of accounting and finance functions. The right candidate will work closely with the Controller to oversee our accounting staff and functions, including the general ledger accounting, internal and external audits, and financial analysis as well as participate in the selection and implementation of scalable tools and software. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in helping the organization achieve a sophisticated financial data and reporting structure to support rapid and scalable growth.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller in managing all bookkeeping, accounting, and audit functions
- Lead the month-end close process and ensure proper and timely recording of financial transactions into the general ledger in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations and subledgers
- Collaborate with department heads to develop accurate budgets
- Monitor actual financial performance against budget figures and assist in explanation and analysis of variances
- Analyze financial data and performance and provide recommendations to reduce cost, increase revenue, and improve financial performance
- Assist the Controller to achieve and maintain compliance with DCAA incurred cost standards
- Assist Controller in oversight and support of all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Continuously assess the accounting policies and procedures, providing recommendations for improvement
- Lead the creation and maintenance of accounting policy and procedure documentation, adhering to industry standards and best practices
- Assist the Controller in assessing and improving the control environment
- Assist the Controller in implementation of new processes and systems, participating in decision making processes and evaluations
Location:

Basic Qualifications
- BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field
- At least 5 years of increasingly responsible accounting experience
- 3+ years experience managing people
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (closing processes, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, etc)
- High degree of GAAP knowledge
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel function proficiency
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Familiarity with Government accounting systems (e.g. Wide Area Workflow) and accounting rules (e.g. Cost Accounting Standards)
- CPA license or eligibility to obtain
