GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting, payroll and revenue functions at both the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass. Includes understanding and implementation of Center Art contracts and payment schedules, oversight, configuration and implementation of POS software. Actively participates in month end closing process, including month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Responsible for supervision and oversight of Accounting and Payroll Team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise Accounting and Payroll Team. Provide direction, training and review of core job activities.
- Responsible for the overall month-end closing process, including but not limited to month end journal entries.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis.
- Involve in 401K process, including administration, compliance and annual 401K audit.
- Coordinate and oversight of annual external financial audits.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all state and local tax obligations.
- Oversee payroll process to ensure accurate payroll filings. Maintain payroll database to ensure accurate reporting.
- Works closely with HR on administration of labor management system.
- Writes or updates operating procedures and user documentation for the functional design of POS importing and balancing accounting software.
- Continuously promote and drive process improvements. Help streamline and/or set up new processes.
- Perform special projects as given by Controller.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA/CMA a plus
- 5 years of experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role
- Prior payroll system experience required. Experience overseeing Payroll
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Works well independently yet is also able to be an integral member of a larger team.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Self-starter with a mind geared toward process improvement.
- Excellent attention to detail and accounting accuracy. Ability to review own work to produce a quality product.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience using Great Plains software a plus.
- Service industry experience preferred.
Full time, Salaried position
Salary Range: $100,000 - $105,000 DOE + Bonus up to 10%
