Description
As the Assistant Controller at Locke Solutions, you will be part of the 2nd tier leadership team who are charged with executing the company's strategic goals as it scales operations in a cost-efficient manner.
Key Results Area # 1 - Controllership, Financial Excellence, and Process Improvements
Controllership - in conjunction with the Financial Supervisor, ensure excellence in all financial operations, including month-ending closing, billing, collections, treasury, vendor payments, fixed assets, payroll, tax, audits, risk management, and controls. Success for this key result requires excellent technical skills, leadership, a voracious mind, and collaboration.
Financial Excellence - ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data, including general ledger accounts, Titan project management, financial statements, tax compliance, budgets, forecasts, and analysis. Success for this key result requires a high attention to detail, being hands-on, taking pride in accuracy and timeliness, having an analytical mind, being organized, establishing control mechanisms, and engaging with team members across the organization.
Process Improvements - scale financial processes and internal controls to changing needs of a fast-growing organization. Success for this key result includes identifying, articulating, mapping, and implementing appropriate processes, utilizing technology, developing people, weighing risk mitigation versus costs, and tracking progress and savings.
Key Results Area # 2 - Purchasing Oversight
Ensure appropriate purchasing controls and cost-saving initiatives. Success for this key result requires collaboration between operations and finance, creating appropriate strategies and tactics, implementing best practices, and tracking the savings.
Key Results Area # 3 - Inventory Control
Manage the financial aspects of inventory control, including accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory levels and performing periodic audits. Success for this key result includes redesigning the current accounting process, implementing technology to better track product and materials, working with operations, and creating cross-departmental accountability.
Key Results Area # 4 - Fraud Control
Maintain a strong control environment and conduct periodic internal audits to safeguard company assets. Success for this key result requires having a forensic accounting mindset, a strong character, and steadfast moral compass.
Key Results Area # 5 - Team Building
Utilize the EOS management process to organize and prioritize team activities to achieve company goals and objectives. Success for this result includes becoming a Champion of the EOS method and toolkit, leading appropriate team-building activities, conducting quarterly Rock setting sessions, and weekly tracking towards completion.
Become a champion of Team Health training based around the Five Dysfunctions of a Team. Success for this result includes being champion of the concepts, creating and evolving the training content with the 2nd level team, and leading small group workshops.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required. CPA certification or progress towards it is highly desirable.
5+ years of proven experience as senior accountant, Assistant Controller, or controller.
Experience in writing procedures and policies.
Experience with accounting software, emerging technologies, and advanced MS Excel skills.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated passion for accounting processes, analysis, and problem-solving.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
A strong character with a high level of integrity.
Spanish speaking a plus but not required.
