Mortellaro's Nursery LTD is a longstanding, family-owned wholesale plant supplier serving the state of Texas since 1956. Over the years, we have provided quality groundcovers, shrubs, and trees to landscapers and nurseries across the state. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team. This position serves under the comptroller who has been with the company for the past 27 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process company payroll biweekly and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct audits on payroll deductions pertaining to vendor balances.
- Assist with end-period routine procedures (monthly, quarterly, yearly) and preparing necessary tax statements.
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records for the organization.
- Enter General Ledger adjustments or entries as required.
- Prepare financial reports such as Balance Sheets and Income Statements.
- Collaborate with sales, production, and other relevant departments to ensure accurate entries and financial information.
- Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems to facilitate easy data retrieval.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of assets and related repairs.
- Rectify errors in computer systems for sales, invoices, receivables, or payroll upon discovery.
- Aid in maintaining comprehensive documentation of computer procedures as software undergoes updates and changes over time.
- Track clients' invoice due dates and maintain strict deadlines for mailing notices applicable to Texas Lien Law.
Requirements:
- Consent to Background Check.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or similar role.
- Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent long-term experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and general computer usage.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional phone etiquette.
- Work Schedule is Monday - Friday.
- Must work on-site.
- All applicants who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo and pass preemployment drug and alcohol testing.
- Employees, thereafter, will undergo and pass random drug and alcohol testing.
