Main Purpose of Job

Under moderate supervision by the Program Manager for the HIV/STI Prevention and Care Program, the main purpose for this position is to assist in the planning, preparation, compilation, and monitoring of grants awarded to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s HIV/STI Prevention and Care Program from the Maryland Department of Health and the Baltimore City Health Department. The specific grants and program areas assigned to this position include having primary responsibility for managing and overseeing Ryan White A and B grant activities for HIV/AIDS program services as well as County and Core grant activities that support salaries and STI prevention activities. The position will also assist with other grant activities and special projects as needed in the bureau. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle and be covered by automobile insurance. The position will be required to work day shift, evening shift and weekends as needed and be able to stand, walk, bend and lift 25 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience with planning, preparing, compiling, and monitoring grants, specifically Ryan White Part A and B.
  • Experience managing and reporting data electronically.
  • Experience with budget and procurement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
