The North Carolina Guardian ad Litem (NCGAL) Program represents abused and neglected children who are in the custody of child welfare agencies to ensure the child's best interests are projected in the district court actions.
This position provides overall administrative and programmatic support to the NCGAL Administrator and the program staff by handling all business office functions. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintaining budget and program records Projecting budget needs or shortfalls Documenting all personnel transactions for NCGAL staff across the State Processing of travel reimbursements and contract attorney payments Collecting, generating and compiling data reports, including use of confidential databases and files Preparing statistical and programming reports Maintaining funds accounting; processing expenditures and reimbursements on behalf of the NCGAL Program Serves as subject matter lead for purchasing, resource development Coordinates with program staff to determine rights and responsibilities for all staff and volunteers Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Knowledge of: the principles and practices of court administration; modern office procedures, practices, and equipment; office management, computer technology and software skills; spelling, grammar and composition; math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentage calculations. Skills in: technology skills; and Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to: exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures; plan, organize, assign, and supervise work of subordinate employees, while personally handling multiple duties; establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, officials, and the public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and one (1) year of experience providing progressive responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One year must include supervision.
