This position is located in an Area Office of the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Specialty Crops Program (SCP), Specialty Crops Inspection Division (SCI). The selectee serves as the Administrative Support Assistant responsible for providing technical guidance and oversight of the day-to-day administrative service operations for the field office.
Qualifications:Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Experience in office procedures necessary to establish and maintain a large volume of office files and retrieve and assemble information/documents for the files.
- Experience establishing rapport and conducts oneself in a tactful and diplomatic manner with the public, applicants, program officials and large numbers of employees.
- Experience using a personal computer for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other functions.
- Experience communicating orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Experience with correspondence management, composition, and review.
- Experience in automated time and attendance reporting system(s)
- Experience utilizing various electronic applications; spreadsheets, databases, word processing programs, power point and various other venues of information technology.
- Experience maintaining inventory and property accountability records.
FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level) that demonstrates:
- Assisting in the development of solutions to issues that involve administrative systems and impact program operations.
- Experience in an agency's personnel operating procedures to enable completion of personnel forms and documents, reporting, and hiring.
- Utilizing accounting systems, account maintenance systems and fiscal policies to maintain electronic user-fee ledgers.
- Experience maintaining and compiling statistical data for administrative reports.
TRANSCRIPTS are required if:
- You are qualifying for the position based on education.
- You are qualifying for this position based on a combination of experience and education.
- This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university.
