ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT/WORKSITE MONITOR
(SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM)
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: TEMPORARY (FEBRUARY 12-JUNE 12)
EXEMPTION STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
SALARY: $20.00 PER HOUR
DESCRIPTION:
CareerSource Broward (CSBD) has a great opportunity for staff to serve as Administrative
Worksite Monitors, funded by our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). These positions
perform administrative support duties related to the start-up of the SYEP program and interact
with program participants during the intake process. Positions run up to 10 weeks depending on
the number of hours worked per week (up to 30 hours per week)
Job Description
Provide administrative support to SYEP staff by preparing correspondence and reports,
creating and editing forms and spreadsheets, making phone calls, conducting research,
assisting with the participant intake, setting appointments, and performing other clerical
tasks.
Communicate with coworkers, management, staff, clients, and the general public
courteously and professionally.
Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence,
emails, and faxes002E
Monitor and evaluate job sites to ensure contractors provide safe and secure work
environments that comply with their contracts.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to contractors regarding established
rules,0020regulations, and procedures, especially regarding child labor laws.
Monitor and assist participants in ensuring compliance with program rules, regulations,
and procedures.
Distribute and collect biweekly participants’ timesheets, ensuring CareerSource Broward
policies and procedures and the Fair Labor Standards Act accurately complete them.
Provide guidance and counseling to participants as needed.
Prepare a variety of weekly reports as needed.
Participate in the agency’s quality improvement initiatives by continually focusing on
and improving customer service.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
May be assigned other responsibilities on a temporary or ongoing basis as necessary for
delivering quality service within the Program or CareerSource Broward as an
organization.
The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Program Manager for the Summer
Youth Employment Program. Work areas are assigned, and the incumbent must use
independent judgment to determine how best to achieve the established objectives. The
supervisor monitors the work.
CareerSource Broward personnel rules, policies, procedures, labor laws, workers’
compensation regulations, technical assistance guides, and current best practices research
are tools used by the incumbent.
Education and Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of one year of progressively responsible
paid or volunteer experience working with older youth in a structured environment and human
relations or counseling experience is required. A bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or
a related field is preferred.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and can use the Internet to research and obtain
data. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
at all levels; the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, the ability to prioritize
work, the ability to perform many tasks in a short time frame is necessary, and the ability to
follow oral and written instructions. Individuals must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and
have their vehicle.
