About the Community Affairs & Advocacy Team:
The Community Affairs & Advocacy department is dedicated to advancing the mission of Precinct One by improving precinct one constituents' access to the office, building and empowering community leaders, and positively contributing to the overall social justice movement in the region by utilizing grassroots organizing strategies, providing public education, public policy monitoring, and developing and executing issue-based campaigns related to Precinct One's public policy priorities.
About the Administrative Assistant:
The role of the Administrative Assistant is to provide administrative assistance to the individual, department, building or assigned area. Ensure tasks are carried out in an effective and efficient manner. This role will be responsible for researching and helping to draft executive-level documents such as memos, reports, and presentations. This position, on occasion, will also assist in division-wide projects as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
You'll work on the following:
Answer incoming calls, greet visitors, and direct both to the appropriate employee.
Manage calendars to schedule meetings, travel, and interviews.
Order supplies, perform data entry and provide management or team with any administrative support needed.
Provide administrative assistance to all projects and initiative assigned.
Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on meetings, projects, and tasks using various software.
Communicating with internal and external stakeholders regarding the coordination and deadlines of the director's meetings, projects, and tasks.

What you will bring to Precinct One:
Experience:
Three (3) years of relevant administrative, and clerical experience to an executive-level leader.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Licensure:
Valid Texas State Driver's License

About Precinct One:
Precinct One, which largely overlaps with the City of Houston, is a diverse, urban precinct. With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other.
Precinct One stretches south to the Brazoria County line and reaches into the eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of downtown Houston, including the Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, and Minute Maid Park. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex, the renowned Texas Medical Center, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston's main and downtown campuses, and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One maintains more than 20 parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers, and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents
