Accounts Payable Specialist

SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Specialist is primarily responsible for invoice processing and ensuring accurate and timely payments of vendor invoices and customer refunds. The Accounts Payable Specialist ensures accurate and timely vendor and customer refund payments in addition to researching and resolving discrepancies while providing an excellent customer experience. Additionally, the Accounts Payable Specialist supports the accounting department with various month-end close responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process invoices and employee expense reports
• Prepare check runs and set up ACH transactions.
• Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to resolve PO-based invoice issues.
• Assist with month end close process by preparing vendor statement reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Maintain vendor and employee accounts.
• Research and respond to internal and external inquiries and requests including communicating the resolution as appropriate.
• Prepare 1099s.
• Supports and introduces process improvements to deliver process efficiencies.
• Performs other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Associates degree in Business/Accounting or commensurate field of study
• 3-4 years Accounts Payable or general accounting experience

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Possess experience with Acumatica, GP Dynamics, MAS 90 or other mid-tier accounting software.
• Intermediate level Excel skills using data filtering, tables, and VLOOKUP.
• Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with a commitment to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with vendors and employees at all levels of the organization promptly and professionally.
• Exposure or experience with PO systems, preferably ENVI Material Management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and multi-task.
• Takes pride in quality and quantity of work produced.

POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Minimum of two days a week in office.

This position requires the use of telephone and computer while communicating with internal and external clients and vendors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands/fingers to handle and type. Employee must be able to sit for long periods of time, up to 8 hours. On occasion, lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and scanners.
COMPENSATION:
This is a Non-Exempt position with an hourly range of $22-$27, depending on experience.
