Be a part of a small but mighty team, managing the development, design, and management of our WSU Vancouver website ensuring consistency in our brand and web content!

Summary of Duties

Responsible for strategy, development, implementation, and management of the WSU Vancouver website. Works as the primary administrator of the website, configuring modules and plugins, or modifying themes, creating dynamic webpages, and configuring user permissions. Works on the front end of the website ensuring consistency of brand and overseeing the development of web content (photos, graphics, and written content).

Regularly analyzes and reports website metrics, identifies trends and responds accordingly. Ensures that the website meets the needs of the institution and its constituents with attention to usability and accessibility compliance. Stays current on web technologies, web standards and industry best practices. Works to maintain web security and coordinates with IT security officers. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in information science or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in web site design, development, and maintenance. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Advanced professional knowledge of modern website development and design. Proficiency coding HTML and CSS to create dynamic webpages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An additional three (3) years of related experience for a total of six (6) years.

  • Proficiency in installation, configuration, and customization of Drupal, including configuring modules or plugins, and creating a custom theme or template that matches WSU’s graphic identity guidelines.

  • Proficiency in web security, best practices, and experience with user permissions.

  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining sites that meet web-accessibility standards.

  • Excellent web content creation and writing skills.

  • Demonstrated time-management and problem-solving skills, and great attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team environment, working with diverse internal constituents.

Essential Duties:

50% Website Coordination

20% Website maintenance

25% Administrative

5% Other duties as assigned.

Work Location and Schedule:

Hybrid - This position may have the opportunity for hybrid work one day a week after six months onsite and after all the required training is completed.

Monthly Salary:

Minimum: $4,869 ($58,428/year); Midpoint: $6,088 ($73,056/year); Maximum: $7,308 ($87,696/year), Grade 5 Zone 3. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to the mid-point of the salary range.
