Minimum Salary: $117,499.00  Mid-Point Salary: $146,869  Maximum Salary: $176,238.00   

At the Port of Seattle, we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. Offers will be based on experience similar to the Port job being applied for as well as a review of pay rates for Port employees performing similar work. Salary ranges are under review and subject to change.

 

Some of what you'll be doing:

As the Manager, Airport Communications Center (ACC), you will provide management oversight of the ACC and manage critical service delivery functions of the staff. You will provide operational support and continuity of operations to the Airport Duty Managers, Operations Department and/or Aviation Division.

  • You will provide strategic leadership, management, and day to day support of staff within the Airport Communications Center including but is not limited to oversight of the Aircraft Gate Scheduling process, Security system monitoring and dispatching, Maintenance problem call reporting and dispatching, Satellite Transit System operation, Baggage Handling System and monitoring and escalation of issues.
  • You will hire, train, mentor a represented work group of 22 Senior Operations Controller and directly managing four (4) Assistant Managers.
  • You will facilitate communications with Aviation Senior Leadership during irregular incidents that impact continuity of operations. 
  • You will develop and administer an annual budget of $3 million. 
  • You will coordinate, devise, and deliver initial and recurrent training to staff.
  • You will maintain high awareness of latest developments of industry technology, information technology and organizational design, and make recommendations for improvements, updates, and upgrades to all systems within ACC while ensuring compatibility with existing and planned technologies. 
  • You will develop strong relationships with other Aviation departments, airport tenants, and government agencies and liaise with FBI, Police, Fire, TSA, and internal stakeholders in the event of an emergency.
  • You will create partnerships with other department managers and solicit feedback/buy-in/expertise towards the ACC Programs and staff on ways to improve and enhance outcomes.
  • You will strategically collaborate across the Airport to ensure safe operations in compliance with federal, state, and Port regulations and policy.
  • You will act as the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) liaison to ensure Airport Operations communications and systems are seamlessly integrated into ACC operating expectations.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have seven (7) years of experience working in airport operations at a medium or large hub commercial airport and three (3) years of experience managing a work group, preferably in a 24/7 airport operational environment.
  • Educated – You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Management, or related field. We hope you are an American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Certified Member or Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Communications or Operations certification from AAAE or have a FAA Private Pilot License or Airline Dispatcher certification.

  • Knowledgeable – You have strong knowledge of a 24/7 operations center that supports airport operations, safety, and security systems in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent Communicator – You have the ability to represent and advocate ideas and concepts to a large audience, industry regulators, working groups and panels, executive leadership teams and Commission in public settings.

What else you need to know: 

  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You will be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment.
  • Grade Review – The pay range and grade for non-represented positions are under review and subject to change as part of the Port’s work to implement a new pay program. This review is intended to ensure that positions are aligned with the new program that will be implemented in early 2024.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
