Title: Volunteer and Events Manager.
FLSA: Exempt.
Reports to: Director, Development & Communications.
Salary Range: $45k - $55k.

The Volunteer and Events Manager is responsible for overseeing all volunteers, which includes the Associate Board, managing the in-kind donations program, and generating revenue by coordinating all special events and special projects. This role includes creating the structure for individual, corporate, and faith-based volunteers, as well as event processes on behalf of CHMI. The Volunteer and Events Manager will use technology, project management tools, and process improvement strategies to expand event revenue, as well as establish and strengthen relationships with a diverse base of corporate partners and event industry professionals.

Educational/Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid/unrestricted Michigan driver’s license.
- Five (5) years of experience in all phases of volunteer management, special event coordination, and planning.
- Two (2) years of project management experience.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in donor database management software (i.e., Raiser’s Edge)
- Self-motivated professional with a proven record of success.
- Capable of moving and handling heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
- Flexibility with working hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Top-notch work ethic, with confidence, initiative, and enthusiasm.
- Creative approach to problem-solving and industry trends.
- Strategic, big-picture perspective and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated high-level organizational and outstanding time management skills.
- Enthusiastic ability to work collaboratively with and appreciate diverse team members and constituents.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of CHMI events, including planning/execution for annual Night of Stars and Sleep Out events.
- Develop strategies to track expenses, and meet or exceed revenue as budgeted by the Director of Development.
- Manage event committees, participant recruitment, volunteer retention, and event fundraising.
- Build community relationships to steward third-party events.
- Serve as the liaison for the Covenant House Michigan Associate Board of Young Professionals.
- Create innovative programs for the recruitment and placement of volunteers.
- Develop and maintain volunteer handbooks, information packets, and required volunteer documents.
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure volunteer placement compliance.
- Facilitate volunteer orientations, training, tracking, and acknowledgments.
- Build and steward relationships with corporate, civic, and faith-based volunteer groups.
- Oversee the annual holiday gift-giving program and the annual volunteer appreciation event.
- Ascertain clothing closet wish lists and disseminate information directly to donors and on social media platforms.
- Arrange the delivery and/or collection of in-kind contributions, and maintain accurate records.
- Activate a stewardship plan for volunteers and in-kind donors, and participate in volunteer outreach events.
- In conjunction with the Fund Development team, coordinate and execute event details, including food & beverage, rentals, logistics, financial management, design, décor, marketing, and ticket sales.
- Ensure cohesion with Covenant House International for Sleep Out events, including record keeping, reporting, online donations, matching gifts, and acknowledgments.
- Collaborate with communications teams to design marketing materials and promote events through all channels including press, PR, and social media.
