Position Summary

Concordia University invites applicants to the position of part-time, non-exempt less than 20 hours per week Cashier and EMS (Event Management System) Assistant. The Cashier receipts payments, reconciles deposits and responds to customer's inquiries. The EMS Assistant role provides support to the EMS system coordinator. The Cashier office is open Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 PM. The position reports to the Account Receivable Specialist and the Housing keeping Manager/ EMS Coordinator. This position is located on the CUAA Ann Arbor, MI Campus.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first contact with students, parents, and the public visiting the Business Office
  • Responsible for receiving mail and in person payments for Accounts Receivable
  • Responsible for posting payments to customer accounts
  • Responsible to reconcile deposits and petty cash
  • Deposits checks into the bank electronically and files each batch report into extender daily
  • Acts as a backup for the account receivable clerks
  • Performs general office responsibilities including answering the telephone, email, correspondence, filing, mail processing, etc.
  • Assists EMS System Coordinator to approve room requests within various campus departments
  • Resolves room conflicts and coordinates room changes with internal and external event managers, as needed
  • Assists in generating contracts for external room rental agreements
  • Receives and records payments into the EMS to ensure full and timely payment from external rentals
  • Interacts with various offices within the university as well as outside constituents
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Experience in handling cash, reconciling deposits and posting to accounts
  • Understanding of database system
  • Able to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities and tasks
  • Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Able to professionally deal with a variety of people who visit the Cashier's Office
  • Able to work evenings and weekend hours as required

Education and/or Training

  • A high school diploma is required
  • 1-2 years of office experience preferred
  • Cash handling experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) staff position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position
