Vice President of Financial Planningand Analysis

This position is responsible for leading the Financial Planning & analysis function, which includes oversight of budgets, financial models, forecasts, financial and operational analyses, KPI reporting, capital allocation, and strategic planning for the Affinity Interactive including its operating business units and corporate division. This position develops and executes the strategic vision for the Financial Planning & analysis organization and works cross-functionally to support business decisions and strategy development activities for both the business unit leaders, and corporate executive team to optimize the company's financial performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned:

Planning

  • Support executive leadership in developing and implementing strategic initiatives. Provide financial analysis and insights for evaluating the feasibility and profitability of various business strategies
  • Lead the annual and multi-year Financial Planning and budgeting processes, including a rolling forecast, five-year financial model, management reporting, capital expenses budget and the annual operating plan
  • Continuously improve and optimize the budgeting and forecasting processes, incorporating best practices, automation, and technological advancements. Streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop periodic and quarterly reporting packages and leads research and communication of trends and variances versus forecast and budget
  • Maintain capital plan, and lead capital budget reviews with the CFO and CEO
  • Participate in due diligence to support company’s M&A and divestiture initiatives.

Analysis and Decision Support

  • Lead monthly business reviews. Prepare, interpret and present analysis of monthly financial results and key issues with recommendations to property leaders and senior management.
  • Assess progress against financial plan, provide insightful analysis and reporting to corporate and business unit leadership, highlighting key performance metrics, trends, and areas of concern. Develop and present comprehensive solutions and presentations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist, or lead, in the development of highly dynamic, decision-informing models designed to support a rapidly evolving business. Subject areas include but are not limited to:
  • Optimization of Marketing initiatives and reinvestment
  • Marketing event pre and post forma
  • Gaming Product performance
  • Labor modeling and optimization
  • Spend analysis to support RFP and contract efforts
  • Hotel yield and non-gaming business performance
  • Analysis to support various use cases of non-gaming assets
  • Analysis to support strategic allocation of Financial resources, ROI, lease vs buy, etc.
  • Competitive Analysis to identify and quantify market trends

Business Intelligence and Reporting

  • Assess the current business intelligence program maturity, develop a BI program strategy and executable roadmap aligning with overall business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify business requirements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and data needs. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the financial health and performance of the organization.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in data analytics, data visualization, and foster data-driven decision-making culture across the organization.
  • Communicate effectively with executive leadership and other business stakeholders to showcase the value and impact of business intelligence initiatives and fit for purpose BI program.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, tools, and technologies in the BI field, making recommendations for innovation and improvement.
  • Implement and drive adoption of effective performance measurement systems and dashboards to ensure accurate and timely reporting of business results. Provide key insights from these metrics to leadership team
  • Assembled a right sized enterprise-wide business intelligence program to include in-house and off the shelve solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and third party technical resources to ensure smooth integration and implementation of BI solutions, considering scalability and performance requirements.

Other

Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including operations, and marketing, procurement, human resources, accounting, to provide financial expertise and support to drive business performance and improve efficiency. Foster strong relationships and effective communication across the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and develop a high-performing and right sized FP&A team, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Supports the long-term development of team members.
  • Set clear expectations, assign responsibilities, and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • At least ten years of experience in a multi jurisdiction, multi-property casino environment, with heavy emphasis on property operations management and/or analytics
  • Experience with PE backed company is a plus.
  • Proven experience in Financial Planning and Analysis roles, minimum three years in a strategic leadership role with a track record of successfully leading FP&A teams.
  • Experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with a focus on enterprise-level implementations at a business sponsor capacity.
  • Proficiency in data management and modeling techniques, as well as experience with various BI tools and technologies.
  • Strong understanding of business intelligence concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Visionary thinking and the ability to translate insights into actionable financial strategies.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, particularly for problem solving and trend identification
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Strong knowledge of Financial reporting, accounting principles, and financial systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques with proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA)
  • or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CMA) are highly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be able to obtain and maintain an Gaming Commission License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate in English in all manners. This position will require minimal public speaking. This position is responsible for report writing and data compilation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Advanced mathematical comprehension required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have Microsoft Office experience.

  • Advanced skill level with enterprise reporting systems (ie. Tableau, Power BI, Looker, SSRS, Cognos, or similar) and relational databases preferred.
  • Experience with SQL programming and statistical analysis tools highly preferred
  • Experience with general ledger, casino management, lodging and point of sale applications preferred.
  • Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
