We are seeking a compassionate Veterinary Technician to join the team at our successful clinic. Veterinary Technician responsibilities include assisting the Veterinarian with surgeries and procedures, coordinating animal care, and monitoring animal recovery. You will work closely with the entire clinic staff to ensure the health and well-being of all of our pet patients. Responsibilities
- Interview pet owners to obtain a patient history
- Performing technician exams and admit patients for in-patient or out- patient procedures
- Phlebotomy for sample collection and IV catheter placement
- Able to collect biological samples
- Perform in- house laboratory testings including CBC, chemestry, urinalysis; maintain a laboratory log and laboratory equipment
- Conducting routine procedures like dental cleanings and immunizations
- Induce anesthesia and intubate, monitor anesthesia, assess anesthetic risk and communicate clearly to DVM, prepare patient for surgery using hospital procedure, assist surgeon
- Monitoring the condition of patients and documenting medical charts
- Dispensing prescription medications under the direction of a veterinarian
- Educating pet owners on animal care and welfare, disease prevention, disease treatment and behavior concerns
- Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic
- Keep accurate patient records
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar role (1-2 years)
- Knowledge of animal care and handling
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a busy environment
- Patience and a love for animals
