What is a User Experience Researcher?
The role of a UX researcher is to uncover user behaviors, desires, needs and motivations to make digital platforms more intuitive and enjoyable for users. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, they conduct comprehensive research and share the insights from research with UI/UX designers. You will be tasked with gathering analytic data and conducting user research initiatives with customers to assist UX/UI designers in creating engaging interactions within our website, mobile app, chatbot, and automated phone system. You will oversee the overall planning and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT). We are seeking candidates who are equally creative and analytical, can assist in design sessions and those who can lead both research analysis and UAT testing efforts.
What does a User Experience Researcher do?
- Works directly with customers via interviews and observations to refine new and existing experiences, focusing on the features and capabilities most likely to drive behavioral changes
- Gathers and analyzes Customer Satisfaction survey results to determine the voice of the customer
- Tracks data and analyze usage trends with analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Glassbox to determine customer sentiment, then develop digital product recommendations based on analytical findings
- Understands and incorporates users’ needs into user interaction and interface deliverables (sketches, wireframes, visual designs, etc.) that create engaging interactions
- Creates and executes test scenarios and test cases for UAT testing, log issues and clarify inquiries from developers
- Maintains knowledge of current research, technology, and best practices related to digital analytics and digital User Experience to help build a roadmap for an innovative and holistic User Experience across all digital platforms
- Prepares presentations to communicate to stakeholders
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously and have a flexible approach to changing priorities in an agile work environment
- Provides support for storm/emergency restoration efforts
What does it take to be a User Experience Researcher?
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in User Experience, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Marketing, Business, Statistics, or a related field of study and experience in UX/UI principles, research studies, in-depth interviews, focus groups, usability, system or user acceptance testing, journey mapping, web/mobile design, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, information architecture or content management strategy. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree and 3 years of work experience in a User Experience role or a related field as previously listed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
- Solid problem-solving skills, attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, a strong sense of visual design and a customer-first mindset
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in User Experience, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Marketing, Business, Statistics or a related field of study
