- Provide support and lead tasks on various transportation multi-modal planning studies and projects.
- Prepare Feasibility and Corridor Study documents.
- Engage in client meeting as needed.
- Collect and analyze social, economic and environmental data to be used in developing alternatives and in assessing potential impacts of proposed actions.
- Analyze existing data and information and prepare technical reports, white papers and memos on various planning topics such as population and land use, emerging technologies, resiliency, funding, and transportation planning policies.
- Work with a multi-disciplined project team to evaluate project alternatives and develop recommendations.
- Interpret data and visualizations such as tables, charts, and infographics to present data, findings, and analyses.
- Assist in development of PowerPoint presentations to present planning and project information for stakeholders and the public.
- Support and participate in stakeholder engagement efforts including developing materials, preparing correspondence, and assisting with meeting logistics and facilitation.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban and regional planning or closely related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in transportation planning.
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or other relevant certification.
- Established knowledge of State and Federal transportation planning regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in technical writing of planning and environmental documents.
- Ability to convey technical information in a user-friendly, non-technical manner.
- Excellent communication skills and able to work on a collaborative team, both internally and externally, and in both task lead and support roles.
- Experience performing work for a variety of transportation focused clients, including DOTs, MPOs, local governments and transit agencies.
- Knowledge of subject areas that affect transportation planning including environmental, sustainability, resiliency, economic and equity factors.
- Experience with GIS software, geospatial analysis, and graphical interpretation of complex data into materials for public consumption.
- Experience presenting planning projects to stakeholders and/or leading or supporting stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Experience with regional long-range plans, statewide long-range plans, and multimodal planning.
- Experience with benefit-cost analysis.
- Strong data analysis skills and problem-solving skills.
- Skilled with MS Office suite.
- Availability for occasional overnight travel (generally less than one week).
