The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is currently seeking (2) Training & Implementation Specialists to provide training, coaching, and technical assistance support to implement High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) and other identified training topics for the benefit of children, youth, and families across the state of New York. The positions are within I CONECT at the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI) and receive oversight and guidance from the NYS OMH Division of Integrated Community Services for Children and Families.
Under the auspices of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI) promotes the widespread use of evidence-based practices within behavioral health provider agencies throughout New York State. Considered an "Intermediary Organization" for implementation, CPI uses innovative approaches to build stakeholder collaborations, develop and maintain practitioners' expertise, and build agency infrastructures that support implementing and sustaining evidence-based practices. CPI also works with OMH to identify and involve program participants, families, providers, and scientific/academic organizations as partners in supporting the goals of OMH and CPI.
I CONECT is located at the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI), in the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The mission of the institute is to establish ongoing engagement, ensure integrated care, identify best practices, share core competencies, provide information, and create training opportunities that include cultural humility, person-centeredness, recovery, and trauma informed approaches for care managers throughout New York State.
The applicant applying for this position must be a self-directed, team player committed to person-centered, trauma informed and culturally humble practice and value a data-driven approach to behavioral health services. This includes openness to learning about cultural humility-based approaches to providing behavioral health services and a strong understanding of person-centered practice.
The Implementation Specialist/Trainer will collaborate with a team at I-CONECT to design, develop and deliver training, coaching and technical assistance for High Fidelity Wraparound. The successful candidate will also work closely the NYS OMH. Additionally, the successful candidate will work with staff in different units (e.g., data analysis, online assistance unit, content development unit, continuing education unit) to support the work. Candidates must possess facilitation skills with the demonstrated ability to support knowledge transfer and new skill development in others. Candidates must also possess leadership skills and ability to work well with colleagues, welcoming feedback, and accountability from the management team. This position will require occasional travel throughout NYS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading or co-leading specific training efforts to support High Fidelity Wraparound and best practices in the field of care management.
- Leading or co-leading specific technical assistance efforts (e.g., learning communities, quality improvement projects, etc.) to support implementation of High Fidelity Wraparound and best practices in the field of care management.
- Providing coaching to participating agencies based on fidelity and quality standards of High Fidelity Wraparound.
- Developing culturally humble training materials including online modules, webinars, and in-person training.
- Developing culturally humble implementation tools for care management agencies, program leaders, supervisors, practitioners, and program participants, including implementation guides and practice-specific workbooks.
- Supporting the supervisor in conducting ongoing needs assessments.
- Supporting supervisor in reviewing existing training modules and making recommendations to adjust training curriculum accordingly.
- Working with CPI's module development unit, subject matter experts, OMH, vendors, and others to ensure that training curriculum is appropriately revised and/developed and made available to learners.
- Supporting the development of pre and post evaluations, surveys, and questionnaires for ongoing data collection.
- Staying abreast of Federal, State, and Local policies and programs for people diagnosed with mental health and substance use, and other complex needs.
- Staying abreast of the evidence-base supporting High Fidelity Wraparound, best practices, and emerging issues.
- Participating in the design and creation of marketing materials for Institute learning community meetings, webinars, training sessions, consultations, and support calls.
- Writing/editing newsletters, news briefs, and project summaries.
- Traveling throughout NYS to attend/facilitate on-site meetings, trainings, coaching and technical assistance sessions as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in the fields of education, public health, social services, psychology, sociology, or human services program management.
- Three years of experience delivering in person and//or distance learning Training and adult education, preferably in a human service setting. A master's degree in any of the fields listed above may be substituted for one-year of experience in Training and education.
- Personal lived experience and living experience of mental health and/or substance recovery can substitute for education.
- Two years of experience with curriculum development software and learning management systems.
- A year minimum using standard office professional software packages and web-based applications including Zoom, Webex, Share Point, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to participate in overnight, statewide travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience with curriculum development software and learning management systems.
- Three years of experience in instructional design and curriculum development.
- Two years of experience with High Fidelity Wraparound and/or other evidence-based practices benefiting children, youth, and families.
