Primary Purpose
The Director administers the activities contained in Southwestern's Title III grant in accordance with Title III regulations and assures evaluation of project activities. The Director will coordinate and have responsibilities guiding all aspects of the US Department of Education Title III grant. Ensure all evaluations, outcomes, budgets, and activities of the grant are accurately monitored, successfully completed and reported. Work directly with college staff and faculty. Administers the Teaching and Learning Center.
Description of Essential Functions
Program Administration (30% of Time)
  1. Serve as a liaison between the Title III project and the faculty and administration of the college, ensuring regular, open communication about project progress.
  2. Assume responsibility for the timely completion of all development and pilot-test phases and project objectives as detailed in the project implementation plan.
  3. Manage day to day activities of the Title III grant.
  4. Coordinate acquisition, installation, implementation, and tracking for all the Title III grant activities.
  5. Coordinate the Title III Steering Committee.
  6. Direct and coordinate the comprehensive faculty development component designed to result in major changes to instructional methods for effective implementation of technologies, including virtual reality and hy-flex modalities.
Teaching and Learning Center (45%)
  1. Develops and implements systemic college-wide programming for excellence in teaching and learning, which may include faculty mentorship programs and training for culturally responsive teaching. Coordinates the delivery of information and assistance to faculty seeking support.
  2. Coordinates and facilitates large-scale events around teaching and learning for part and full-time faculty.
  3. Works collaboratively with faculty, administration and departments across the College to develop and implement effective, student-centered teaching strategies at scale.
  4. Researches higher education teaching best practices and develops tools and resources for faculty members, advisors, and other professional staff.
  5. Develops student success and first-year experience curriculum to be delivered in courses.
  6. Oversees program budget and faculty/staff stipends for teaching and learning events.
  7. Develops and delivers training sessions to educators on the fundamentals of emerging technologies, including virtual reality and AI.
  8. Provides ongoing support and guidance to teachers as they integrate emerging technologies into their teaching practices.
  9. Conducts research on the latest emerging technologies, including AI and virtual reality technologies and teaching methods, and incorporates findings into training materials and lesson plans.
Grant Management (25% of Time)
  1. Assure evaluation of project activities.
  2. Monitor and expend the budget in accordance with Federal rules and regulations, assessing progress toward objectives, meeting reporting requirements, and informing campus constituencies of Title III progress and outcomes.
  3. Produce accurate and timely narrative annual reports and budget reports for submission to the Department of Education.
  4. Oversee the formative and summative evaluations of the project.
  5. Ensure that all established project fiscal policies and procedures are followed.
  6. Prepare quarterly progress reports, including evaluation of activities completed and recommendations for improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or related field.
Teaching and/or instructional design experience.
Demonstrated experience in grant or project management.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to use virtual platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Adobe Connect, Go to Meeting, etc. to conduct meetings and trainings. Ability to learn new software application programs easily.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly and smoothly to continuous changes in federal, state, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of department records and/or information as requested.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting procedures and computer applications of these procedures.
  • Ability to read, review, understand, and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, federal regulations, professional literature, and other related materials pertaining to federal or state grants.
  • Ability to follow established college and department procedures and work independently to accomplish those procedures. Ability to explain established policies and procedures using judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability and willingness to manage a flexible work schedule with self-discipline, including travel, various hours and possible weekends/evenings, as well as work days at other college locations.
