Job description

Provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with the Liberty School of Aeronautics and FAA regulations and procedures. Prepare schedules, maintain records, and ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by each student in each flight course. Maintain high levels of Aeronautics and flight training knowledge. Maintain high proficiency in flight instruction skills. Accomplish the additional duties assigned by the respective supervisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Train and mentor students according to the LUSOA Flight Operations Manual ( FOM ) according to Liberty University's vision of Training Champions for Christ.

2. Perform Flight Instructor duties as authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s) in accordance with the Liberty University School of Aeronautics ( LUSOA ) approved Training Course Outline ( TCO ).

3. Responsible for ensuring students are scheduled for the correct lesson in the correct aircraft and that each procedure is done according to the FOM .

4. Ensuring all students understand and practice all aspects of LUSOA Safety Program as outlined in the FOM .

5. Ensuring satisfactory progress through the training course of each student.

6. Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training in ETA , student logbook records and a record of sign-offs.

7. Initiating stage checks and requests for assigned students.

8. Responsible for timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork and assignment of final course grade.

9. Monitoring the maintenance condition of the training aircraft, and inform dispatch of any aircraft maintenance discrepancy issues immediately.

10. Recommending curriculum and course improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or course improvements as assigned.

11. Filing safety reports as necessary on any observed safety violations, or potential situations that may affect the safety of operations.

12. Keeping your direct supervisor aware of where you are at during working hours. Workout schedule adjustments with your supervisor as needed.

13. Keeping current with continuing education: attending weekly operations meetings, special training and standardization meetings when scheduled, other in-service training and instructor development meetings as assigned.

14. Assisting Executive Director of Flight Operations with special projects.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

FAA CFII and 4 year college degree required. FAA CFI , CFII , MEI , ATP preferred.
