Job Description
Under supervision of the Paint Administrator, candidate will perform complex supervisory work involved in managing Residential Painting. Overall responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
1. Write, develop and interpret specifications.
2. Evaluate quality control inspections.
3. Evaluate new technologies and coating systems.
4. Conduct and administer field demonstrations.
5. Recommend analytical test; ability to interpret results.
6. Prepare various summaries and reports.
7. Oversee and Supervise staff of 150+.
8. Paint Contract oversight.
9. Daily field visits.
NOTE: Assignments will be made throughout the five boroughs.
Additional Information
1. Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor Painter to apply.
2. This position is open on a direct transfer (lateral) basis only. It is not open as a promotional opportunity.
3. This position carries an assignment differential.
4. A Driver's License valid in the State of New York is required for this assignment.
5. Must use employee-owned vehicle to get to locations citywide.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements: By the last day of the Application Period you must have:
1. Six years of full time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years, one year of which must have been spent performing the duties of a supervising painter; or
2. Not less than four years of such experience plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational school.
However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as a supervising painter acquired within the last fifteen years.
