Technical Manager

Nucor Steel South Carolina is seeking a leader for the position of Technical Manager. This department manager level leadership role will be instrumental in driving the NSSC divisional Special Bar Quality (SBQ) strategy by driving continuous improvement, process optimization and product development to ensure that we provide the most reliable engineered bar products that meet our customers' needs. Additionally, this role will execute Nucor Steel South Carolina's strategy by facilitating operational excellence to meet SBQ markets. This will be accomplished by leading and developing a team directly responsible for:

• Process Metallurgy
• Laboratory Services
• Quality Systems
• Technical Services (on site)
• Product Development
• Building and leading the QAL team

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

1. Bachelor's degree in metallurgy, materials science or other process engineering related studies.
2. 5+ years of steel industry experience.
3. 2+ years of supervisory experience.
4. Experience with a formal Quality Management System.
5. Experience with melting, casting, hot rolling, heat treating of steel and data analysis.

     1.   Advance degrees in metallurgy, or material science or other process engineering related studies.

2.    Experience working in melt shop and/or rolling mill operations.

3.    Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical peers.

4.    Experience in steelmaking process optimization, and new product development.
