Position Title: Technical Theatre Manager
Department: Lexington Two Performing Arts Center and Fine Arts Programming
Reports To: Executive Director of L2PAC and Fine Arts Programming

SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the executive director in the management/implementation of technical requirements of all auditorium events, managing the technical resources of the facility and the director is responsible for assisting with the organization, administration and evaluation of the K-12 fine arts programing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
  • Serves as the point of contact for the performing arts center in the absence of the executive director.
  • Assist maintain safety and efficiency of all auditorium technical facilities: physical plant, stage rigging, scene construction area, lighting, and sound equipment.
  • Oversee and enforce safe rigging practices and installation for the entire production department.
  • Assist coordinating and supervising student technical crews and assist the executive director with developing a training program to build an ongoing student technical production team. Develop a cohort of students who are trained to meet the demands of Technical Theatre production and work effectively as a team.
  • Responsible for managing the annual scenic budgets, developing budget estimates, financial projections and staff planning as needed. This includes long-range planning, research, and pricing for capital improvements.
  • Assist coordinating the technical demands of productions (sometimes overlapping), performances and events using the auditorium. Assist with managing the technical aspects of scheduling to ensure all events are scheduled and do not overlap with the other district fine arts events.
  • Foster a professional and collegial relationship with all production staff members, district personnel, students, and other stakeholders involved in productions, programs, and events.
  • Oversee house staff during performances, run all crews on stage, and direct publicity staff. The director is responsible for maintaining the function of the performance.
  • Assist with post-production breakdown and cleanup of all facilities, materials, and equipment within two days of the performance.
  • Serve as the scenic designer who coordinates the design, build, tech weeks, and the week of production. Oversee completion of sets and design of lighting, costumes, props, sound, and make changes based on feedback from production directors/producers.
  • Attend all L2PAC department and production meetings, tech rehearsals, and preview performances as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with the executive director, designers, stage managers, directors, and department heads to ensure smooth development and installation of the set throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
  • Working knowledge of construction and set design, lighting design, stage rigging, audio and sound reinforcement, stage management/or production management, and working knowledge and clear understanding of professional standards of stage safety.
  • Assists with coordination of a variety of school year and summer program activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Technical Theatre
  • MFA in Technical Direction preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. Comfortable working at heights. Able to work quickly and accurately in a complex and fast-moving environment.
