Technical Manager

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our new team in Orangeburg, South Carolina. We foster a TEAM culture where everyone has input, and everyone contributes to the overall success of the company no matter their position.
Job Responsibilities
- Work, act, think, and converse in terms of improving quality and eliminating waste in his/her process
- Stop any operation that is not producing product to customer expectations or its in violation of approved quality and safety standards
- Must be able to work efficiently and seamlessly with other divisions within INDEVCO Group to drive improvements
- Develop and maintain workflows for all technical trials, distribute reports and make recommendations on changes needed to meet customer goals.
- Continuously improve the process as an individual and as a team member
- Coach, and train production personnel on multi-layer (up to 9 Layers) blown film extrusion process.
- Ensure all environmental standards and requirements are met
- Responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the machine is consistent with the policies and procedures which make up the Quality System
Specific Duties
- Responsible for creating an environment of teamwork focused on producing quality products
- Set the example of safe operation by following established safety guidelines and holds self and other accountable
- Keep the area clean and organized
- Initiates and supports improvement initiatives
- Support the Development of training plan for production personnel
- Maintain open communication with employees and ensure their improvement ideas of operation concerns are reviewed and addressed in a timely manner
- Familiar with all lab equipment and understand the data associated with the testing
- Coordinate with sales group on new projects for building potential jobs
- Support resin purchasing team in the research of materials, pricing, and related activities associated with the purchase of materials. Improve the process as an individual and as a team member
- Develop custom tools to improve workflow in technical and quality areas
- Make customer visits to review any issues with performance of products and make recommendations on improvement
- Conduct a root cause analysis and corrective action plan on non-conforming products and follow up on the implementation of the corrective actions
- Ensures machine Preventive Management is performed according to the schedule.
- Works with QA Manager, Plant Manager and Supply Chain on continues improvement projects related but not limited to QA procedures and test instructions, machine upgrades, and Raw Material selection
- Trained in Quality System and Internal Auditing and be able to train others within the facility.
- Other duties as instructed by Plant Manager
Performance
- Ability to communicate and work well with others
- Makes “run/don’t run” call with input from Plant Manager, Production Manager
- Meet all Environmental compliance as required
- Meet safety targets and ICORE standards
- Improve and optimize blends for drive quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Meets quality targets (number of complaints and NCM)
Knowledge
- Understanding of all products being produced in facility in relation to all technical data, performance on customers equipment, etc.
- Must have working knowledge of lab equipment used in the testing of multi-layer (up to 9 layers) blown film and complex film structures (Sealant – Barriers – Collation Shrink – PCR content – MDO) Basic understanding of Quality systems and Food Safety standards
- Must have working knowledge of multi-layer (up to 9Layers) blown film extrusion processes and complex film structures (Sealant – Barriers – Collation Shrink – PCR content – MDO)

Job Qualifications & Experience
- B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Excellent analytical and project management skills
- Excellent communication & leadership skills
- Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines
- Minimum of five years’ experience in petrochemical packaging
