Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a System Administrator, Senior, or LSO to join our Power Supply team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a System Administrator, Senior, or LSO do for us?
The focus of this role is Operational Technology (OT) and requires an in-depth knowledge of IT/OT blended environments and get the opportunity to work in the field and be able to work in data centers across the service territory. Under supervision System Administrators analyze, install, configure, upgrade, test, document, monitor and maintain software and hardware in support of business processing requirements. They support systems which may include operating systems, business applications, server hardware, security tools, monitoring tools, web servers, application servers, integration servers and other departmental or enterprise applications or systems. In addition to the duties listed above, Senior System Administrators also provide advanced level support for systems including troubleshooting, performance, monitoring, cost-benefit, security, and licensing analysis. They stay aware of industry trends, business requirements and technical design methodologies to aid in the development of creative/innovative IT/OT solutions. In addition to the duties listed, an LSO System Administrator demonstrates knowledge and expertise in system administration of infrastructure, power grid applications and support systems that are required to support mission critical control environments. This includes proficiency in individual areas of expertise as well as support for a wide breadth of technology.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge of:
  • Installation, configuration, upgrade, test, document, monitor and maintain software and hardware of relevant technology platform(s)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
System Administrator
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field

OR
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems or a related field

Experience:
  • 2 or more years of relevant technology administration experience

Preferred:
  • 4 or more years of relevant technology administration experience

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:
  • Certification relevant to position
  • Microsoft MCSA
  • Redhat RHCSA

Senior System Administrator
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

OR
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS (Computer Information Systems), Cyber Security or a related field

Experience:
  • 5 or more years of professional technology administration experience

Preferred:
  • 8 or more years of experience in a Corporate Multi-platform Technology environment

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • CCNA (Network)

Preferred:
  • Certification relevant to position
  • Microsoft MCSE
  • Redhat RHCE
  • CISSP
  • CCNP (Network)

LSO System Administrator
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related technology field

OR
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS (Computer Information Systems) or equivalent field

Experience:
  • 7 years of professional Technology Administration experience including 3 years of experience in power grid systems

Preferred:
  • 10 years of professional Technology Administration experience including 3 years of experience in power grid systems at IPC

Licenses & Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Works with regular guidance in own area of knowledge. Solves a range of straightforward problems, analyzes viable solutions, and assesses each using standard procedures. Participate in 24x7 on call rotation.
