Responsibilities Include:
Idaho National Lab (INL) is seeking a Cybersecurity System Administrator Lead to join the Cyber Operations & Incident Response (COIR) department within the CYBERCORE division supporting National and Homeland Security cybersecurity programs. As a member of the COIR department, you will participate in our mission to enable advanced detection of cyber threats to critical infrastructure within the United States through the innovative application and integration of Cybersecurity Systems, practices, and technology. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of System Administrators to ensure the infrastructure is secure, performant, and available for analysts to detect advanced cyber threats.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert on the system and mentoring peers in system administration tasks
  • Identifying and implementing approved solutions to solve technical challenges.
  • Foster an environment of trust, teamwork, rigor and creativity to consistently meet partner requirements.

Minimum Requirements:
  • PR0300: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or advanced degree and 3 years of experience.
  • PR0400: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience or advanced degree and 6 years of experience.
  • Preferred degree disciplines are: Computer Science/Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or other technical degree with a strong Computing background.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance which requires US Citizenship. When required, must be able to work in a secure work environment to include handling/storing/processing classified and CUI information, and adhere to physical and electronic protection standards.

Preferred requirements:
  • Already have an Active TS or Q clearance.
  • Must be able to independently lift 50lbs to rack and configure server and networking equipment.
  • Ability to be accountable for SysAdmin team's successes and failures and working to design and implement strategies and workflows to improve results from lessons learned.
  • Strong self-motivation to learn and a drive to provide opportunities for others on the team to also learn and expand their technical capabilities.
  • Strong enterprise network administration background to include routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN configurations.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Juniper, Fortinet, or Ubiquiti network hardware configuration.
  • Experience with IDS/IPS applications and appliances such as Cisco FirePower, Snort, Suricata, and Corelight/Zeek.
  • Experience administrating applications such as Splunk, Phantom, and ITSI.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, especially Red Hat/CentOS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration including Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter administration.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS flash and legacy storage solutions and technologies such as NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel.
  • Experience administering backup applications such as Veeam or Commvault.
  • Experience using Ansible and scripting (e.g., bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation.

  • PR0300 - Salary Grade - 210 ($95,928 - $158,232) OR PR0400 - Salary Grade - 220 ($110,316 - $181,956)
