Job Title:
Staff NEPA Regulatory Compliance Scientist
Job Summary:
The Staff Regulatory Compliance Scientist will support federal and commercial business operations. Will work as part of a team working on projects related to the regulatory analysis of technical projects for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and other federal statutes requiring specialized support.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Support preparation of required compliance on complex projects, such as NEPA documents with an emphasis on environmental assessments, consultations for ESA and NHPA, and permit applications for Section 404 and 401 of the CWA.
• Participate in the writing technical documents (Description of Proposed Action and Alternatives [DOPAAs], Environmental Assessments [EAs], Environmental Impact Statements [EISs], Findings of No Significant Impact [FONSIs\, Findings of No Practicable Alternatives [FONPA\, Records of Decision [RODs)\, Section 106 and 7 Consultation packages, etc.).
• Help ensure that required environmental impact analyses are conducted pursuant to the NEPA and the Council of Environmental Quality regulations, when required by federal, state, and local governments.
• Write technical reports.
• Engage in regular coordination with internal project teams to ensure schedules remain on track
• Assist in the development of environmental studies in consultation with project manager.
• Contribute to a variety of federal and state NEPA and planning documents, including permitting applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background check, and reference check. A valid driver’s license is also required for this position.
• Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering, science or a related technical field is required. Bachelor of Arts in environmental science/studies may also be acceptable.
• Advanced degree is preferred.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in relevant field.
• Substantial progress toward professional registration, e.g., Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) is desired.
• Working knowledge of NEPA requirements and experience with implementation of NEPA, including successful contribution to EAs and EISs is required.
• Familiarity with natural and cultural resource management plans (INRMP, ICRMP, IPMP, ISMP, ESMP) is desired.
• Prior experience participating in NEPA document reviews and writing technical documents (DOPAAs, EAs, EISs, FONSIs, FONPAs, RODs) is desired.
