Job Description
FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for managing the non-radioactive permits and licenses while representing the Perma-Fix Northwest facility to the EPA, Department of Ecology and Benton County Air Authority. This is a salaried, exempt position.
DUTIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Represents facility to EPA, Department of Ecology and Benton County Air Authority in both routine communications and special projects.
· Responsible for facility compliance and reporting with Benton County Air Authority and RCRA/TSCA Permits.
· Reviews and interprets environmental legislation which could affect facility operations.
· Reviews procedures necessary for regulator and permit administration and compliance.
· Administers the preparation of permit renewal and updating of permit compliance.
· Performs waste designation in support of waste treatment and disposal.
· Maintain a safe working environment.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily working in an office-type environment with occasional field and inspection work in an industrial type environment, including outside in all weather conditions. Field/facility work required where there is potential for exposure to mixed hazardous materials, radiation, noise, dust, hot and cold temperatures and chemicals.
Requirements:· Bachelor’s of Science or equivalent training and experience in the field; minimum ten years experience in the industry; mixed waste handling experience preferred; extensive experience with the WA State regulation; Hazardous Materials Worker training.
· Thorough working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
· Good knowledge of transportation, operations and special project requirements is preferred.
· Ability to complete Radiological Safety Training, 24hr Hazardous Materials and other training as required.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to establish effective working relationships with operational groups and regulators.
