What You'll Do
The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung's breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated engineer to develop and support our cutting edge Enterprise and Data Center SSD products. The ideal candidate should be well versed in storage system and device serial interface/link (SAS or PCIe) design or Failure Analysis
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time the remainder of your time.
Job ID:
  • Support interface validation test of our SSD products in OEMs' systems; and provide onsite Failure Analysis of issues found during such validation tests.
  • Analyze and debug PHY and Link layer issues during bring up and sustaining stage of NVMe/SAS SSD products.
  • Participate and support Industry PHY/Link compliance tests, such as PCI-SIG events.
  • Provide support at OEM sites to collect logs or bus traces for Failure Analysis.
  • This job requires up to 25% time for business travel.

What You Bring
  • BS in Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science, and 10+ years of relevant experience in software or firmware or a MS with 8+ years experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
  • Significant experience with PHY and Link Failure Analysis and knowledge for Signal Integrity and power integrity from CDR to Equalizer operation.
  • Strong experience with protocol and logical/signal analyzers.
  • Strong experience with UART/JTAG/ICE debuggers, firmware debugging.
  • Experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon SoC validation.
  • Experience in Spice simulation and IBIS model

What We Offer The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors-including the role's function and location, as well as the individual's knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Base Pay Range
$108,000 - $218,300 USD
