Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has an opportunity in Santa Clara, CA for a Reliability/Failure Analysis Engineer. In this important role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals and interact with outside customers, providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, team-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking.
The Reliability/Failure Analysis Engineer will perform technical planning, integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and reliability and effectiveness analyses for microwave high power amplifier (HPA) products (SSPA < TWTA).
Responsibilities include:
- Analyses performed at all levels of product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into product solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, and requirements allocation studies to translate customer requirements into hardware implementation and test procedures
- Acquire and integrate actual product RMA (Reliability/Failure Analysis)data into mathematical models to project new product RMA characteristic
- Conduct R&M testing and statistical evaluation of test data
- Review equipment failure data, identifies RMA problems and assesses corrective action
- Execute Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analyses and Fault Tree Analyses
- Perform/Facilitate hardware/software Failure Analysis and corrective actions for both manufacturing in-process and field return product failures
- Coordinate/facilitate supplier Failure Analysis and corrective actions
- Prepare formal reports and presentations to customers describing the results of the analyses and assessments
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering, math, physics, computer science, or related STEM discipline
- Two or more years of full-time engineering experience
- Experience in RMA engineering or analysis of engineering processes
- Demonstrated ability to perform system level trade studies
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Desired Skills:
- Reliability and/or System Safety experience in a diversity of sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems
