BASIC FUNCTION:
Record all accounting transactions related to Non-Residential leases/mortgages. Prepare monthly account analyses and journal entries. Monitor lease agreements and review required financial and legal documents, including independently prepared financial statements to ensure compliance. Prepare quarterly and annual schedules and footnotes for annual audited financial statements.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Record transactions and prepare quarterly analyses for Non-Residential leases;
- Oversee billing for non-mortgage items, including PILOT and lease payments;
- Prepare audit work papers for internal and external auditors;
- Perform accounting functions such as journal entries, bank reconciliations, review of invoices, purchase orders, requisitions for assigned ESD programs and subsidiaries;
- Prepare mortgage confirmation letters for annual financial statements audit;
- Review financial statements, legal documents and other information required to be submitted by certain mortgage projects to ensure receipt of payments due under written agreements;
- Prepare monthly payment authorization forms related to specific ESD fund disbursements and provides general ledger coding for payments as needed;
- Analyze intercompany accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies;
- Prepare quarterly financial statement footnotes for the following sections: Other Assets, Other Liabilities, Other Revenue, Reimbursements and Miscellaneous Revenue;
- Assist and serve as back-up to Senior Accountant; and
- Special tasks and projects as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field
Relevant Experience Required: 3-4 years proven accounting/finance experience; Government or non-profit experience preferred.
Knowledge Required: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (PowerPoint a plus); Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Experience analyzing audited financial statements; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Skilled in accounting software systems, PeopleSoft experience a plus; Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
