Title and Summary
Director, Product Management, Payment Optimization Overview:
Mastercard is a global technology company. Our mission is to connect and power an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone, everywhere by making payment and data transactions safe, simple, smart, and successful. Using secure data and networks, partnerships and passion, our innovations and solutions help individuals, financial institutions, governments, and businesses realize their greatest potential. Our decency quotient, or DQ, drives our culture and everything we do inside and outside of our company. With connections across more than 210 countries and territories, we are building a sustainable world that unlocks priceless possibilities for all.
The Digital Transformation/Payment Optimization team is part of Consumer Solutions. We are responsible for optimizing eCommerce solutions and for driving transaction authorization improvement for digital transactions globally. We do this by being consumer centric for our products and services and being relevant in all consumer money flows.
Role:
Ever have your transaction declined when hailing a ride? Can’t watch your favorite TV show because your streaming service payment was interrupted? Denied at checkout when ordering a new pair of sneakers?
These are all frustrating experiences for the cardholder that digital merchants are trying to avoid.
We are driving a strategic, multi-year transformation to develop new solutions on our authorization network to solve for these pain points. These new solutions will incorporate innovative products, services, and capabilities to increase digital authorization performance and drive higher conversion rates for our merchant, acquiring, and payment service provider partners.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the product development and strategy of developing these brand new solutions. You will work cross functionally with engineers, data analysts, regional product managers, and account teams to understand customer needs and build a product that drives material value for our customers.
Unleash your analytical and creative problem-solving skills to define the future of how we serve our customers.
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end Product Development lifecycle for our new authorization improvement products, including gathering insights, outlining strategy, developing KPIs, creating a go-to-market strategy, defining the customer experience/journey, and working in partnership with the Delivery and Technology teams to deliver roadmap capabilities
  • Continually monitor the market landscape to get a view of competitive solutions and opportunities, as well as provide thought-leadership and market insights to support customers and guide product development decisions
  • Engage in idea generation, concept validation, business case development, and financial modeling and planning
  • Translate product strategy into a roadmap containing well-defined and prioritized user stories, and features and enablers that will realize the product vision to assist the client in achieving a long-term competitive advantage
  • Leverage data, analytics and market insights to come up with recommendations that will drive penetration, adoption, business decisions and development of new and existing strategic solutions, all in the effort to improve authorization performance
  • Design and enable solutions or digital transformation initiatives that enhance business value delivery and responsiveness by applying project management skills – Lean/Agile practices and frameworks or their equivalents
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and influence various teams at the global and local level; key stakeholders include Engineering, Finance, Market Development, Account Management, Customer Experience, Marketing, and other product teams
  • Develop regional go-to-market strategies and lead execution to ensure maximum penetration of product and value delivered to customers. This includes aligning with regional teams and supporting customer facing teams with go-to-market plans, pricing, and training. You will oversee pilots to propose and deliver new features/enhancements.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Technical knowledge and skill to speak on the technical aspects of authorization performance, payment processing and acquiring;
  • Comfortable communicating and collaborating with business stakeholders, engineering and analytics teams at all levels;
  • Passion for all things digital and intrinsic curiosity to understand new technology
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and global mindset with a passion for learning and using data to solve large scale business problems
