At the present time, we are seeking a Staff Accountant, to join our accounting team in our corporate office in Ronkonkoma, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-site/multi-company or multi-state corporate accounting/finance and will embrace a team environment. This position addresses tight deadlines including monthly closes of multiple properties along with a multitude of accounting activities. As a vital team member, you will be responsible for the day-to-day functions including:
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- GL maintenance and journal entries
- Review and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
- Prepare month end accruals, prepaid expenses and reserve calculations
- Month end closings
- Preparing financial statements
- Provide in depth analysis to management of actual to budget variances on financial statements
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions
- Accounts Payable review of coding and payments
- Participate in the annual audit, 1099 process and ad hoc projects as needed
Experience
- At least 5 years of accounting experience.
- Multi-site/Multi-company or multi-state corporate accounting/finance experience
- Healthcare industry or rental property experience preferred
- CPA designation a plus, but not required
Job Requirements
- Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in accounting required
- Solid knowledge of GAAP, Federal and State laws and regulations a must
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft software and Yardi
- Excellent computer skills to include Word, Outlook and advanced Excel; accounting software experience
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and follow up skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
- The ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization
- A customer service attitude with the ability to train and mentor others within the organization
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is necessary to ensure the finance department runs smoothly; assisting in areas outside your scope of responsibility when necessary
