IAG is a worldwide function with 200+ team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, Consumer Compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Most IAG team members hold at least one professional certification. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.

How will you make an impact in this role?

By protecting the brand by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice, and insight.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working on multiple simultaneous audit engagements of all sizes and complexity across first and second line of defense business functions;
  • Developing an understanding of Consumer Compliance risks, controls, and processes through interviews of key
    personnel, reviewing documentary support (e.g. policies, procedures, flowcharts, reports, exhibits, etc.), and performing control walkthroughs to evaluate control design;
  • Performing control, transactional, and analytical testing to conclude on control operating effectiveness;
  • Identifying, documenting, and calling out audit observations, findings, and recommendations;
  • Using automated work papers and other department and company tools in a proficient manner;
  • Preparing materials for (and participating in) routine audit client status meetings, coordinating audit requests for meetings and materials, and performing other administrative tasks;
  • Building and retaining subject matter expertise related to Consumer Compliance and conduct risk laws, regulations, and requirements;

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional experience in consumer regulatory compliance, internal or external audit, or similar role in the financial services, banking, or card products industries;
  • Bachelor of Art/Science or equivalent degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field of study;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven integrity, accountability, responsibility, and personal motivation to set and meet goals and objectives;

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data-driven mentality and experience in the manipulation, assessment, interpretation, and presentation of data to support a conclusion;
  • Audit, Consumer Compliance, or other relevant professional certifications, such as the Certified Internal Auditor.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
