Within Data Center Engineering, the Mechanical Solutions team is driving rapid innovation in Mechanical Cooling and Controls systems used by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our designs are fundamentally changing the Data Center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business, and its millions of customers. Our engineers solve challenging technology problems and take big bets on new concepts enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry. This role provides the opportunity to engage with and lead the Technical Mechanical Product Management aspect for the development and deployment of Air Handlers within our infrastructure solutions.
This specific Sr. Mechanical Product Manager – Technical within Data Center Engineering will utilize their expertise to:
  • Engage with internal and external Amazon customers and support teams to gain insights and capture critical Data Center needs for the business today and in the future pertaining air handler infrastructure
  • Utilize those insights to identify specific cooling Data Center requirements, create a Data Center vision, and own the solution development roadmap for air handling products critical to the Data Center portfolio
  • Coordinate between multiple teams to develop compelling business cases to substantiate business value, define development prioritization, and outline resources required to implement solution roadmaps
  • Drive continuous advancements and improvements within our Data Center designs, and communicate technical direction to Senior Management
  • Own and drive the complete solution lifecycle from idea conception through implementation and wide scale deployment of air handling and related component solutions
  • Develop capacity features and deployment strategies to improve speed of deployment, profitability and penetration for our at scale deployments
  • Work independently in a high pressure environment with all levels of leadership and exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist

Key job responsibilities including but not limited to:
  • Develop cross functional relationships that facilitate the gathering of robust and complete product requirements for mechanical solutions
  • Build and maintain strategic roadmaps for new mechanical solutions to drive business initiatives
  • Lead the development, deployment, and sustainment of Mechanical Systems for our next generation Data Center in a highly cross-functional environment, which includes internal customers, hardware, and software development teams.
  • Drive teams inside and outside the organization to deliver complex cross-functional programs with high impact to the organization.

Our Technical Product Managers work closely with key partners to innovate, create, manage, and deliver world class products to be deployed in our Data Centers. Our product manager work passionately to define customer requirements, development compelling product strategies to drive business value, and partner with cross functional teams and external vendors to make their strategies a reality at AWS scale!
About the team
About the team
The Mechanical Solutions team provides engineering expertise and design support for mechanical equipment in Data Centers globally. This includes support for new products and design features that address the mechanical cooling systems included in Data Center deployments. We own and support mechanical products throughout their lifecycle. Our scope also includes emergent global scale remediation strategic efforts that impact Data Center capacity or availability and introducing and driving business improvement initiatives increasing visibility and enabling data driven decision making.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
