Job Description
As the Senior Manager of Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in our company's ongoing success by overseeing vendor contract management, purchasing compliance management, analysis, reporting, vendor negotiation, interfacing with group purchasing organizations, and identifying opportunities to drive cost down across our platform. You will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to ensure efficient procurement processes, cost savings, and high-quality vendor relationships. This role is remote in either EST/CST time zones.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage vendor contracts to ensure they align with company needs and objectives.
- Evaluate contract terms and conditions, negotiate favorable agreements, and monitor compliance.
- Establish and enforce purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor purchasing activities to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Generate reports to provide insights into procurement performance and savings achieved.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of procurement data to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Lead negotiations with vendors to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, service level agreements, and quality service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Collaborate with GPO partners to leverage collective purchasing power and optimize pricing and contract terms.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to GPO relationships.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving measures across the company.
- Provide monthly reporting updates to executive leadership on status of savings optimization, purchasing compliance, risks, and opportunities.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record as a successful procurement leader in a multi-site human or veterinary healthcare company. Required experience includes:
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field;
- Minimum of 7 years of procurement and supply chain management experience
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence multi-unit operator behaviors
- Knowledge of the veterinary or healthcare industry procurement
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certification in procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is an advantage

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of procurement management system (Vetcove is preferred); MS Excel; MS Word; MS PowerPoint; analytical tool utilization
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Occasional travel to meet with vendors or leadership for key meetings.
