This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality. Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact and productivity. Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must. Knowledge of how to greet the public courteously, obtain information and give accurate and understandable information. Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and staff. Possess or ability to acquire certification in first aid, CPR and AED.
Need to Have: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. High School Diploma or a diploma in process. Prefer work experience in reception and customer service work including basic computer work.
Essential Functions of the Position
Park District Cornerstones
- Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Parks, the Assistant Superintendent of Sportsplex and the Sportsplex Supervisor, the Sportsplex Front Desk Associate shall complete his/her assigned duties to the best of his/her abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow employees. o Answer telephones and to greet and accommodate customers. o Provide information and assistance to fellow staff members.
Effectively communicate orally.
Process registrations, collect fees, issue receipts and initiate refunds for programs, activities and rentals.
Notify class participants of class changes or cancellations.
Operate various office machines such as copier, fax, telephone, postage meter, computer and printer as needed.
Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere at the service desk.
Keep the service desk and lobby areas clean and neat.
Open and distribute incoming mail and dispatch outgoing mail.
Follow all safety procedures that pertain to duties involved and support all aspects of the Park District Safety Program.
Marginal Functions of the Position
- Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- The ability to set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
- Assist in cleaning, order and care of the facility, nearby restrooms, Front Desk, and surrounding areas; including the emptying out of trash receptacles.
