Your Opportunity
The Grants Team’s primary responsibility is to process grant recommendations submitted by Schwab Charitable account holders (clients) to eligible public charities. The Giving Specialist will report to the Grants Team Manager. The position will consist of processing grant recommendations submitted by Schwab Charitable clients through their donor-advised fund. The Giving Specialist role entails entering grant information into our database, confirming an organizations’ tax-exempt status and contact information, and verifying the designation of the grant to ensure it meets Schwab Charitable’s Program Policies and IRS requirements for donor-advised funds. Giving Specialists also correspond regularly with donors, clients, investment advisors and charities.
In addition to their daily grant processing responsibilities, Giving Specialists might be asked to provide assistance on our inbound phone line. Qualified candidates will be comfortable answering incoming calls from current and potential clients, financial advisors, and charitable organizations. Qualified candidates will also have a basic understanding of donor-advised funds and desire to assist clients in processing their grant recommendations.

What you have
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years employment experience (background in financial services, specifically with Charles Schwab, Inc., or the non-profit sector highly desired)
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours/overtime during the year-end peak season (November to January)
- Efficient and accurate data entry skills
- Personal Accountability – ability to set and meet goals to deliver on key business expectations

- Professionalism and High Emotional Intelligence
- A positive can-do, overcome-any barrier attitude
- Superior customer service skills, particularly the ability to communication with affluent clients and their investment advisors

- High comfort level with financial services concepts and trading operations
