- Ensure the timely filing and proper completion of health insurance Billing and resubmission of unpaid claims using specialized knowledge of billing codes and procedures.
- Interface with patients and staff, demonstrating knowledge of healthcare billing regulations and system related topics.
- Ensure proper application of all payments. Monitor and communicate payment issues and/or rejections. Provide correspondence from payment remittance advices for improvement to collection processes, contract allowances or product coverage. Interact with team members, payer sources, providers and management on resolution to identified topics.
- Prepares accurate and complete claims/statements for assigned claims or accounts. Monitors insurance denials, payments and follow-up using professional judgment to determine appropriate course of action.
- Reviews and acts upon insurance denials, underpayment and claim rejections. In addition, acts as a communicator on recurring issues and substantial dollars related to adjustments and/or denied claims.
- Holds oneself and others accountable to conduct business in a manner compliant with Bioventus’ Code of Compliance and Ethics, policies and procedures and internal controls applicable to their role.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Four-year degree in Business or Science a plus. Medical billing courses and certifications preferred.
- 2-3 years Billing/Collections experience in a healthcare environment with emphasis on insurance billing, reimbursement and Collections for durable medical equipment.
- Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
- Solid knowledge of medical billing procedures with knowledge of insurance contracts including Medicare regulations, private healthcare insurance carriers, managed care providers and workers’ compensation.
- Knowledge of durable medical equipment Billing and HIPAA regulations.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet. Knowledge of claims submission software such as EZ Claim.
- Knowledge of Salesforce and QAD a plus.
