Responsibilities:
Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
Familiarity with general surgery coding, orthopedic coding (a plus).
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
Abstract relevant information from medical records for coding purposes.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding.
Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
Proficient in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required.
The ability to pay attention to detail, prioritize needs, multi-task and manage needs is essential.
Maintains and conforms to all Privacy Laws regarding patients and practice.

Monday Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (EST)
