Job Summary:
As part of the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Team within the Division of Continuing Studies (DCS), the content specialist will work both independently and collaboratively to produce Social Media and SEO content that supports DCS initiatives. The position is responsible for managing DCS's Social Media presence across multiple channels and programs, building community through Social Media, enhancing our content SEO and contributing to increased enrollments.
Tasks:
- Work with a marketing team, including account managers, digital experts, writers, designers and operations specialists, to achieve overall marketing goals
- Ensure accessibility, equity and inclusion are centered in content creation efforts
- Develop, implement and manage organic Social Media strategy on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn, with an eye for understanding and growing audiences and driving engagement
- Curate, schedule and manage social content calendar through Sprout Social
- Monitor social channels and engage followers with swift, thoughtful responses in alignment with UW-Madison's policies and responsibilities
- Identify and execute new opportunities within organic Social Media in alignment with paid social efforts
- Track and report on Social Media performance and use insights to optimize audience engagement
- Work with divisional partners and campus marketing and communication professionals to maintain Social Media standards of the university and stay current with policies and procedures
- Support the development and implementation of content SEO strategies to improve organic search visibility, website traffic and keyword rankings
- Review and conduct keyword research to identify high-value search terms and trends relevant to target audiences
- Execute off-page SEO strategies such as link building and influencer outreach
- Monitor Social Media and SEO trends and implement best practices
Responsibilities:
Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals.- 20% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
- 15% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
- 15% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
- 40% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
- 10% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans

Qualifications:
- 2+ years professional experience producing digital content and managing social accounts for a business or organization with an active Social Media presence
- Expertise with Social Media and content SEO tools, trends and best practices, and the desire to stay up-to-date on their evolution
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communications and marketing intuition
- Experience with Social Media management suites (i.e. Sprout Social, Hootsuite or equivalent)
- Experience with SEO tools (i.e. SpyFu, Semrush, Yoast or equivalent)
Work Type:
Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
Salary:
Minimum $52,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
