Position Summary: The HRBP plays a key role in supporting Avondale Terminal Services and United Bulk Terminals' leadership and team members in lifecycle HR. Specific areas of focus to include onboarding, team member engagement, coaching and performance management, employee relations as well as day-to-day administrative duties. This individual will be based at Avondale Global Gateway in Avondale, Louisiana making regular, weekly visits to United Bulk Terminal in Davant, Louisiana. The role reports into the Director of HR located in Norfolk, VA and will work closely with other members of the Norfolk-based HR team. The successful candidate possesses professionalism, discreetness, and high emotional intelligence with a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and connect with all team members at various levels throughout the organization.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
TEAM MEMBER ONBOARDING
Conduct and support team member onboarding alongside terminals' leadership that effectively introduces new team members to HOST, its culture, and its core values.
TEAM MEMBER ENGAGEMENT
Partner with local leadership, enterprise-wide HR and marketing & communications on activities, events and initiatives that drive team member engagement.
COACHING & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Support local leadership in effectively coaching and managing team member job performance.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
Conduct internal investigations professionally, objectively and discreetly.
HR ADMINISTRATION
This role will also be tasked with various tactical work supporting the above initiatives which will include but is not limited to adding new hires into HRIS, drafting correspondence letters and emails, administering all aspects of background and pre-employment through HOST's third-party vendor system, offboarding processes and providing the appropriate information to payroll relating to employee profile events. The successful individual will also ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations concerning the employing of talent.
This role may be tasked with talent acquisition responsibilities from time to time and as business needs dictate.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Three years minimum of professional-level HR generalist experience OR a bachelor's degree in a related field with at least one year of general experience in HR. HR-related internships also count toward this requirement. Professional HR certifications preferred yet not required.
- Self-motivated with an ability to maintain a high degree of organization striving for accuracy in all work.
- Professional, approachable, genuine and objective in all matters relating to human capital.
- Able to professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and in ever-changing conditions.
- Intermediate level skills in MS Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook.
