The Human Resource Business Partner serves as a company resource with regard to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the HR Department in Geismar and supporting all Human Resources functions for the location.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety. Participates in the SafeStart culture of safety.
• Coordinate Staffing: Work with management to develop job descriptions, personnel requisitions and job postings for available positions. Input requisitions in Workday Recruiting HRIS system to ensure that approvals are obtained as required; Post positions and recruit, using standard company resources. Utilizing Workday Recruiting to review candidates for qualifications and route to hiring manager for review. Communicate to applicants through Workday Recruiting; Schedule assessments for candidates as appropriate; Schedule and coordinate interviews; prepare and make offers for positions; Onboard new employees using HRIS system. Coordinate new employee orientation.
• Termination Process: Terminate employees in HRIS system - ensure notification of termination is communicated to appropriate entities as detailed on Offboarding Paperwork; conduct exit interview and complete Offboarding paperwork, and upload into Workday HRIS system. Complete online state termination for the state of Louisiana.
• Absence Management: Coordinate explanation of benefits and FMLA notification to employees on disability absences and personal leaves of absence. Work with Westlake Corporate Benefits and Payroll to ensure accurate absence information is input into HRIS system.
• Payroll: Administers payroll matters in the Kronos System including final approval of biweekly payroll.
• Recordkeeping and Reporting: Maintenance for personnel requisitions, job postings, hiring, terminations and leaves of absence. Maintain job applicant information in Hiring Portal, including all candidates interviewed and hired. Other recordkeeping duties as needed for HR department.
• Utilize Applicant Database and HRIS systems to keep accurate records and files.
• HRIS database super user and contact for employees, supervisors, management.
• Professional Resource: Keep updated on all company policies to provide guidance to employees.
• Assists in planning and working with teams and volunteers on plant activities.
• All other duties as assigned.
• This position may be required to drive company vehicles from time to time.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field of study required.
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience with prior recruitment and payroll experience required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; detail oriented.
• Able to work with people in various levels within Westlake, particularly in a team environment.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and experience in a HRIS preferred; ability to learn new databases and applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee may be required to use stairs/elevators and have the ability to occasionally work at elevated heights. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, this position must take general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, FRC (flame retardant clothing) etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
