The Service Writer is responsible for timely and accurate parts and labor data entry into POR for retail and internal service orders. In addition, this position will also work in the yard as needed, loading, unloading, preparing equipment for the next rental, and conducting necessary repairs to equipment as needed.
A typical day may include the following:
- Creating and closing all internal work orders, including creating PO’s, ordering all parts needed and utilizing mechanics timecards to input data to work orders.
- Diagnose, repair & maintain equipment both diesel and gasoline engines.
- Research and obtain vendor resources for varied product lines.
- Assisting in the development and management of procedures and policies for ISO’s and parts inventory stocking guidelines.
- Administer manufacturer and internal warranty claims. Assign shop help on cleanup duties, parts chasing, and small repairs.
- Maintain database accuracy in terms of inventory and equipment service records.
- Maintaining the performance of the retail and service department budgets.
- Timely and accurate parts and labor data entry into POR for retail and internal service orders.
Top candidates will have:

- Excellent computer and writing skills using MS Office.
- Ability to communicate well with all levels of management.

- Mechanical experience.

- Ability to adapt well to changing situations and remain calm under pressure.
- Forklift training
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Physical demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and ability to perform tasks such as walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 lbs per day.
- Specific vision abilities are required to include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
