This position is responsible for developing funding opportunities and writing effective proposals to gain grant awards. They will also be responsible for tracking grants and contracts and providing relevant information to the Finance Department and senior management.
Job Duties
· Understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, capacity, and financial needs of Northwest Family Services (NWFS).
· Research and recommend grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies that match the goals, objectives, and capacity of NWFS. Incorporate any pertinent ones into a reasonable time schedule and run by senior management.
· Be responsible for the entire grant proposal process, including:
· Setting and leading proposal meetings with the appropriate program team.
· Determining if the proposal is a good fit for the agency given the award amount, time line, and agency/ staff capacity.
· Collaborating with content experts / program teams to determine project scope, objectives, and performance outcomes.
· Drafting of grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documents.,
· Disbursing proposals to content experts / program team for review and approval.
· Responding to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
· Submitting completed grant proposals within the determined internal submission deadline.
· Maintain positive relationships with funders and other stakeholders.
· Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure all grant and contract payments are accurately budgeted expended, tracked, and claimed.
· Create and maintain a grants and contracts schedule and tracking system, including amendments, and, upon request, be able to provide the current grant contract, and information on the grant, such as category of work, total budget amount, relevant codes, and reporting requirements.
· For audit purposes, track and update new and existing current government contracts, government grants, private contracts, and private grants from award to formal execution to conclusion including amendments (e.g., Fiscal Year End Grant Schedule, SEFA).
Education / Experience
· Bachelor’s degree or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of an associate’s degree with three additional years of direct grant/contract management experience.
· At least 3 years of progressive experience successfully managing multiple grant/contract proposals in amounts over $250k, including large multi-year awards is required regardless of educational experience.
· At least 3 years of experience writing and submitting government grants and contracts.
· General understanding with non-profit accounting practices, including financial reporting and billing functions, and fiscal grants management of federal and non-federal funds preferred.
