Job description

Overview
Microsoft's Windows + Devices organization has a responsibility to provide safe products to our customers; whether they are a student using a Surface Laptop Go to complete an assignment, an avid gamer playing the latest Forza title, a technician troubleshooting a machine using mixed reality via HoloLens, or a multinational company looking to harness the power of distributed IoT sensors by using our latest AI tools. The goal of the Product Safety team is to prevent our products from causing injuries or property damage, and to take decisive action when a safety concern is identified.
As a Sr. Product Safety Engineer, you will partner with a diverse group of hardware product makers including PMs, subsystem engineers, and industrial designers, providing guidance on safety requirements and conducting hazard analyses and risk assessments. You will also evaluate potential safety hazards in AI-based offerings in support of Microsoft's Responsible AI standard, advising the teams on mitigations or limitations to their scope. The Sr Product Safety Engineer will join the Reliability, Device Analysis, and Safety group in Windows and Devices, reporting to the Director of Product Safety.
This is a dynamic role that will not be dedicated to a single project, device, or technology. By having access to multiple businesses with their specific challenges, it will allow you to substantially expand your expertise in Product Safety and risk management, hone your communication and negotiation skills, and become a trusted subject matter expert.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals.
