Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Mission Systems Capability Manager to act as the senior technical engineer and technical authority with options to work from Berkeley, MO; El Segundo, CA; Everett, WA; Huntsville, AL; Kent, WA; Mesa, AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Ridley Park, PA; or Tukwila, WA.
The Mission Systems Leader is focused on supporting the development and coordination of Mission Systems architecture, design, processes, and implementation across BDS Mission Systems teams helping to provide technical competency to programs to aid in execution that meet warfighter operational needs. This includes on hardware that is common to Mission Systems on BDS products and programs. The leader supports the alignment of operationally relevant systems and sub-systems and development of products lines to support customers and key stakeholders.
The Mission Systems leader develops and utilizes Development Excellence framework to further advance Mission, Command & Control Systems capability within BDS. In addition, the Mission Systems leader is facilitating the development of metrics and design practices for technical proficiency and documenting best practices in support of effective resource planning and knowledge transfer.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- 5+ years of experience in Mission Systems integration.
- Experience in engineering discipline(s) (e.g., electrical, mechanical, software engineering) applied to product related systems (e.g., aircraft, avionics systems) throughout the product development life cycle, from concept development to deployment.
- 5+ years of experience in program execution from concept development, design reviews, verification and qualification, hardware/software delivery and sustainment.
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with leading change and exerting influence.
- Experience developing new processes.
- Experience communicating with executives and senior leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Manages employees and mid-level managers performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines.
- Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
- Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
- Manages, develops and motivates employees and mid-level managers.
